Ok quick rundown… my younger brother & I don't see each other often since my dad passed away last year. We don't have the best relationship – but no fighting, just not a lot of talking or sharing.
Well the other day we were both at my mother's home to celebrate grandma's birthday. We didn't say too much to each other. then I asked if he wanted to see a picture of our chickens. They are our newest additions and we love them. Most people want to see pics as it is a novelty around here to own chickens. Now keep if mind that I was only asking him to look at a picture on my phone, not sit through a slide show or see them in person etc. all he had to do was turn his head – nothing more. So he actually said to me " umm, no" followed up with "I really don't".
This upset me and I headed into the house to get away from him before I started crying. I finished something I was doing for my mother on her PC and decided that it was time to go. my mother told me not to let him upset me when I told her I was leaving. Obviously he had to realize he upset me. But he didn't say anything to me when I went outside to say goodbye to everyone. I did include him in my goodbyes but got nothing back from him.
I guess my question boils down to was he rude with his answer or did I over react??
Take one of your pet chickens to his home and put it in his bed. Maybe then he will realise chickens, and you, having feelings too!
Yes, his phrasing was slightly rude. he doesn't have to look at a picture of your chickens. I wouldn't really care to either. You reeaaalllyy overreacted by almost crying and leaving because of that. You should have just said "okay" and moved onto a different subject or go talk to someone else. when you say "obviously he had to realize he upset me". NO. Guys especially are not mind readers. You should be willing to go to him and tell him he hurt your feelings or just get over it. Don't ever expect guys to know how you are feeling. I have 2 brothers and have been married to my husband for 10 years. You have to TELL them when they hurt your feelings. Guys aren't dumb, they just don't think with emotions like we do.
