i have always had good skin, but in the past year, year and a half i've developed awful issues. for one thing, i've had int he past few months terrible dry, cracking skin–mostly just on my right hand. i also have it on my LEFT elbow – ??? in additon, i've starting have recurring boils. the first one appeared on my face a year and a half ago or so, and this year alone i've had 5 boils. right now i have two! also, on my legs, i have scabs that WILL NOT heal. i fell and scraped my knees in the wintertime, and i still have the wounds! and they are not scabbing normally; they are creating dry, itchy, flaky patches of reddish skin that itches like mad and just don't go away. i have a couple of other regular scabs that won't heal, either. band aids, neosporin, nothing. what gives? i know i need to see a dermotologist, but i just don't have the money right now, even with my insurance.

Recurring "boils" could be a sign of Hidradenitis Suppurativa. It is an autoimmune disease, which may account for the wounds that are not healing properly. also, many HS sufferers have extremely dry skin too.

Usually HS lesions form in not-so-nice areas of the body (Armpits, groin, butt, stomach, under breasts), but there are many cases where they do appear on the face/head.

I hate to scare you but that sounds almost like some nasty STD.
You REALLY need to see a doctor.
