Is this a staph boil?

 Is this a staph boil?

Six years ago i got what im assuming is a boil in my armpit. I had no idea how to deal with it. I put a draw out salve on it for about two weeks and it only got worse. Out of frustration i stopped using the salve and a few days later the swelling went down and the pain went away. It never came to the surface. when the swelling went away, there was still a big hard bump left right under the skin. But it was not painful.

A few years later, that bump swelled up and became painful again. This time i went to the hospital and instead of lancing it they just gave me a shot and some antibiotics. after a few days or so the pain and swelling subsided but again i was left with a large unpainful lump.

It's been a few years now and once again that lump has swollen.

I've been assuming that this is a boil caused by staph, but in researching how to deal with the boil i've never seen anyone say that a lump remained once the swelling stopped.

Can anyone tell me if this is normal?
And whats the most effective way to draw it out quickly?

I've been using tea tree oil, ichthammol, l-lysine(1000mg), echinacea-golden seal complex, and turmeric for about 3 days and getting no results. Today i've had a heating pad on it just about all day. Still nothing.

Any suggestions?

you should go to your doctor not the hospital this time… it could be a staph inf. or it could be worse simple smile Is this a staph boil? good luck

they make a draw out salve, you can find in the drugstore. the fact that this keeps returning indicates it could very well be staph. it needs to be drained by a doctor. the vacuum sounds logical, but you need to let the doctor handle it. some have to have surgery for it. they get bigger and bigger and more painful. you may need antibiotics again.
i don't know where you live, but around here they will handle it at the ER. if you have a regular doctor, it would be good for him to see you.
i am good about self medicating also. so often, though i just end up going to the doc anyway. good luck

ok…sorta been going thru something like this with my 3yr old son…in the past yr he has had a boil type growth coming up behind his ear..been lanced 3 times ,busted once..was tested for staph early this year…negative…said it was bactieria….going tomorrow to ear nose and throat dr…seems to think it is possibly a cyst that keeps getting infected and my need to be surgicaly removed..good luck..
