I'm trying to find simple, effective ways to remove chlorine and/or fluoride as well as any other bacteria that can be potentially harmful found in tap water without purchasing an actual filter from the store. Also, does boiling water do anything to improve the quality?
Chlorine will flash off after being allowed to set for 24 hours. this is why water stored in the frig always tastes better than what comes out of the tap.
Bacteria can be killed with 10 minutes of boiling.
Don't know what can be done with the fluoride except that it's not necessarily a bad thing to have in the water.
yes, boil it. as for quality, sure
That is what the chlorine is for. it decontaminates the water. it is not a bacteria. it kills the bacteria. Tap water in the United States is very safe.
Children especially need fluoride. Ask your dentist.
get a filter.I use the Britta Filters at Walmart.our water is sometimes brown and that filter takes chlorine and everything out.they have a replacable filter and the square turns red when its time to change it.Only about $24.00 and very useful.Save a ton on buying bottled water too.
